“Top shelf roots rock … the champagne of alternative-americana”
When hard pressed, that’s how Hevee Levee describe themselves, even though it can be hard to get a straight answer … sometimes you might not get one at all. As any fan might tell you on any given night- “you never know where its going next - don’t worry about it - it’s good!”
Listening to Hevee Levee perform, you might imagine yourself somewheres on a deep river, in an old boat, drifting through some mossy woods listening to a dark guitar and a rusty harmonica … Suddenly out of the blaring bell of a baritone saxophone, a spontaneous revival erupts, unabashed and joyous …. you’re doing the tarantella with your lawyer on the courthouse steps!
Hevee Levee is an innovative band that plays unique versions of a wide mix of covers and originals (although they might not do the same song the same way twice).
Jon Thompson (vocals, guitars, sax) has toured nationally and played with the Pittsburgh Symphony, The Machine, phil Roy ..to name a few Gordon Vincent (vocals, guitars, harmonica) was recognized by Billboard Magazine as one of the top independent artists in the Southeastern United States ….
Andy Reeves (vocals, drums, percussion) has been a resourceful influence on the south Jersey music scene for the last 10 years ….
In 2017, fresh from recent shows at The Sayers Club in Las Vegas and The Exit Zero Jazz Festival, the south Jersey based trio is producing several music videos to coincide with the release of their second studio album, tentatively titled “Small Town Flood”. You can catch them regularly at such south Jersey hotspots like The Mad Batter, The Rusty Nail, The Boiler Room, & Yesterdays. You may also catch them at a private party or someone's wedding... they are a band for all occasions!
Hevee Levee is about soulful intensity, solid musicianship, and driving rhythms. If you’re about checking out new original music - then don’t miss Hevee Levee.
